Comcast is History
June 30th, 2007 by Grant in: Business, GeneralOne of the many tasks at hand over the last couple weeks was to determine whether or not to dump Comcast for AT&T’s new service, U-verse.
After using AT&T’s service for over a month and a half, and having only one problem with it that was adequately resolved, my wife and I sat down and decided that we were tired of Comcast raising cable and internet rates without getting anything in return. It was time for Comcast to go.
Of course, the Comcast representative was not at all happy with our decision. In fact, she tried extensively to keep us as customers, and even tried to set us up on a program that would match AT&T’s rates… for six months anyway.
That wasn’t good enough for me, and then the Comcast rep went on this tirade about how she couldn’t understand why I wouldn’t see her offer as a better deal than what I’m getting with AT&T. It bordered on becoming unprofessional, which did nothing but reaffirm my decision.
Quite frankly, I’ve never really had a problem with Comcast service, aside from the fact that every year they increase their rates by 10% with nothing in return. This is probably why their stock is doing so well.
Being the capitalist I am, I hope the mass exodus from Comcast to the new competition will help drive down rates for both parties. After all, paying $100 per month for basic cable and internet is not my idea of money well spent.
