Comcast is History

One of the many tasks at hand over the last couple weeks was to determine whether or not to dump Comcast for AT&T’s new service, U-verse.

After using AT&T’s service for over a month and a half, and having only one problem with it that was adequately resolved, my wife and I sat down and decided that we were tired of Comcast raising cable and internet rates without getting anything in return. It was time for Comcast to go.

Where I’ve been, where I’m going…

It’s been a busy last couple weeks. After spending a week away from home on business, and then recuperating and catching up with all that piled up during that week, I think I’m about back to normal. Or as close to normal as I’ve ever been.

I finally got the rent check from my tenants, it was only two weeks late, but as I suspected, the tenants didn’t account for the increase in postage last month, which landed their otherwise timely mail back on their door step.

Along those same lines, the tenants have agreed to renew their lease for an additional year, while adding a third roommate …


Rent is late.

It is now June 13th, and I have yet to receive rent for June, due on the 1st.

This will be the first time I have ever had a problem collecting rent from these tenants, and I think I know why.

Postage.

Back in the middle of May, postage went from $0.39 to $0.41 per stamp. Throw a thirty-nine cent stamp on an envelope, and you’ll probably see your mail back in your own box within a couple weeks.

After a phone call to the tenants, they indicated they mailed the check two days before it was due. I asked whether they put the correct postage …
