Ford Left Unfilled
February 9th, 2007 by Grant in: Investing, Stock ThoughtsMy Ford order went unfilled today. My limit order was set GTC at $8.49. Due to analyst upgrades of the automotive sector before the market opened, Ford never saw $8.49.
In fact, the stock opened strong at $8.82 and then slowly tapered off to close up $0.18 at $8.73.
My order for 200 shares is still in though, and I won’t waver on my limit. If it doesn’t fill next week, I’ll cancel it and re-evaluate my entry. I still think Ford has potential to reach the low teens, if not higher, but I won’t go chasing it.

If you think Ford is going to, say $12, then why not just by it now in small doses? Why not buy 100 shares now, and 200 shares later. That way at least you’re in the stock if it goes to $9 or $10.
I agree that it’s not wise to chase a stock, but if your goal is to sell it at $13, what’s a few extra cents off your buy?

Grant, did you see this? Deutsche Bank sees Ford going up…
Rod Lache:
He said GM could be a $68 stock by 2011, with $45 a fair value by 2008. Ford could reach $12.75 a share in 2009 and $11 in 2008, Lache told clients.

I think you missed your chance at $8.49 and if you want in the stock you better buy anywhere below $9.
