WordPress Upgrade
February 4th, 2007 by Grant in: GeneralFor the last week I’ve been working on upgrading to the new WordPress 2.1. After a few glitches I managed to delete, upload, download, overwrite, edit, update and discombobulate all the files required to go from version 2.05 to 2.1.
I like the new version, but it will take some time to find and implement a few of the new features. One feature I particularly like is the ability to switch between the visual editor and the straight code editor. I also like (and appreciate imensly) the auto-save feature that saves my posts automatically when I write them. I can’t tell you how many I’ve lost due to glitches when I hit the “Publish” key.
All in all, it appears it’s a good upgrade. Along the way, I activated a Akismet plugin to help deal with spam. Hopefully it’s effective.

I just did the upgrade too, pretty smooth on my end. Did it really take you a week to do the upgrade? Took me just under an hour.
I like the new functionality too, and like you said I like the new post writer.
Keep up the good work, I like your stock thoughts. R

No, I started looking at the upgrade just under a week ago, and tried to get feedback from people who had done it already. Most of it was positive, with a few negative comments here and there.
Then I had to backup all the files, which took a while since my explorer kept crashing when trying to copy all the files over to my local machine.
It was just today that I got all the files uploaded and working.
Thanks for the kind comments, please feel free to chime in on the stock discussion.
