Fast Fact on Soda
July 21st, 2006 by Grant in: Economics
I learned last night that the average American drinks the equivalent of 555 cans of soda in a year. This equates to 1 gallon of soda per week.
In related news:
“It has been estimated that the estimated cost of overweight and obesity in the U.S. is $122.9 billion. This estimate accounts for $64.1 billion in direct costs and $58.8 billion in indirect costs related to the obesity epidemic, a sum that is comparable to the economic costs of cigarette smoking.”

I hear ya! I was really blown away by the statistic that the average American drinks a gallon of soda a week!
I try and drink water whenever I can, but I do splurge for a Coke when it’s 100+ degrees outside…
And for some reason Jack Daniels just doesn’t go as well with water!

Blehhhh. A gallon a week? You must be kidding. I know I am not part of that survey. Too much sugar in soda for me.
