Update on My 5 Gallon Piggy Bank

5 gallon water jugAfter reading a few personal finance blogs, I came across one which listed the approximate value of a piggy bank based on volume. I forgot which blog it was, but the data was from the Coinstar website.

Evidently, they figure that there are about $228 in change per gallon.  Of course this depends on the specific coins you have in your jar.

So based on the 5 gallon jug I’m using as a piggy bank, I’ll have about $1,100 in change when I fill it to the brim.

Well, it’s a start anyway!
